NHL releases players to Olympics

The NHL announced that it has reached an agreement with the International Olympic Committee and the International Ice Hockey Federation on the participation of league players in the 2022 Olympics.

NHL hockey players missed last year’s Olympics.

NHL clubs have confirmed that they are letting players and coaches go, and the regular-season calendar will take a break from Feb. 3 to 22.

That said, the league reserves the right to rescind the decision to participate in the Games if the coronavirus situation returns to threatening levels.

The 2022 Olympics will be held in Beijing.
