Barcelona 2010 assesses positively the first great event

The Organising Committee of the European Athletics Championships Barcelona 2010  met together at the end of the celebration of the Meeting Ciutat de Barcelona in the same stadium where it took place: The Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys. This committee has assessed in a very positive way the carrying out of this athletics event after having been out of the calendar for eight years. In the same meeting it was officially confirmed the celebration of the fifteenth edition of this event for 2, July 2009
 
This committee met together in order to validate the votes got during the campaign carried outto choose the official mascot of the Championships. It has assessed in a very positive way the fact that the fans could get inside the Stadium without any problem and also the excellent organisation of such a complex event as an athletics meeting is which was done without any inconvenient. Vicente Añó, general coordinator of Barcelona 2010, says he is very pleased with the results of this first B10 test event: "It was our first attempt. All of us could be very happy because of the way things have been carried out. All the areas have worked very well, without any trouble”.
 
The promotion of Barcelona 2010 will continue  in the National Spanish Championships which will take place in Tenerife on 26 and 27July during the following days  and also during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games where some activities will be done (these actions have not been fully decided yet).
 
Some representatives from the Organising Committee will go to the Chinese capital on different moments of the Olympic Games. Barcelona's Major Jordi Hereu will stay in Beijing for four days due to the Opening Ceremony. He will go there with the Sports delegate of the city council, Pere Alcober, who is at the same time the president of the B10 Executive Committee. José María Ordriozola, president of the Organising Committee, that will be leading of the Spanish athletics team will travel later.
