Barcelona
Considered one of the main cities in Southern Europe, Barcelona is now a world centre of tourism. Contributing to the success of spectacular numbers of visitors is the sporting activities in the city, with hundreds of sports events held in its facilities throughout the year.
Barcelona retains the romantic spirit of forerunners from the beginning of the last century, but also wisely selects those events of international importance which place it on the top level of the modern age and progress. The European Athletics Championships Barcelona 2010 is a clear example. They have never been held in Spain, despite having previously been held on 19 occasions, and this assumes a genuine challenge for a city which desires to once again be associated with the foremost of Olympic sports. It has already done so through one of the most significant events, the Barcelona Marathon, which attracts record entries year after year, but lacks the glamour of track athletics.
The opportunity to combine holidays with attendance at a top level sports event is unique. Make the most of the summer of 2010.
