Jorge Salcedo, technical delegate of Barcelona 2010, will assist the Spanish Championships

Portuguese Jorge Salcedo, technical delegate of the European Athletics Championships Barcelona 2010, will assist the Spanish Championships held on the 1st and 2nd of August in the Olympic Stadium Lluís of Montjuïc. Salcedo confirmed his assistance and will be accompanied by Marcel Wakim, competition director of European Athletics.

The Spanish Championships, which will be held in for the first time in Barcelona since the year 2000, is a very important test event with regard to the European Athletics Championships next year. The event’s organization will, in the same stadium where Barcelona 2010 takes place, supervise all leading areas.

Apart from the Marathon, the 10000m race and the 50km Walking, all disciplines will be carried out at the Spanish Championships. The format does not differ in many ways from Barcelona 2010; the course of the competition is qualifications, heats, semifinals and finals.
