The synthetic material athletics track of the Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys is already looking the green colour it will show next year. As part of the substitution plan of the current straight, in the first phase it has been already placed the new synthetic material in the two half moons. The new green colour contrasts with the ones of the Pole Vault and Javelin corridors which are blue.
During two weeks, the technicians of MONDO have been working on those areas of the stadium in which a great part of the competitions take part. In total there have been installed 1,976 square metres of blue synthetic material. In the second phase which has been left for the first months of he year 2010, once the rest of the building works of the internal refurbishment of the stadium have finished, there will be installed the blue tartan in the ring, a total of 7,046 square metres, and in the interior warming straight, where a surface of 1,958 square metres is required.
We are talking about the first step for the definite transformation of the Montjuic's athletics track, which in 2010 will look a renewed aspect, full of strenght: blue in the nine lanes where the races take place and green in the half moons.
The synthetic material MONDO is installing in the stadium belongs to the new Mondotrack FTX product. It is the same material that was used in Beijing's Olympic Stadium, where the results got by the athletes -especially the sprinters- showed it is the best material currently existing in the market. Barcelona's athletic track will be once the ring has been completed the fastest in the world.
Mondo produces all its material in the locations the factory has in Zaragoza, in its productive centre and of I+D. The innovations of this new paving begin from its sub-base, where it is introduced an hexagonal drawing which let a greater distortion so, an increment in the sending back of energy to the athlete's muscles, who notice an important improvement in his support.
