Meeting of genuine cracks in Montjuic: Dayron Robles and Barni

26/06/2009

Dayron Robles, Olympic champion and World record holder in the 110m Hurdles, wanted to take advantage of his stay in Barcelona to meet Barni, the mascot of the European Athletics Championships Barcelona 2010, and to wish a great success to the event. Robles has stayed for a couple of days in Barcelona collaborating with the CIDIDA Foundation which is directed by José Luis López in a scientific research project without any precedents around the 110m Hurdles runner. Next to him, it has taken part the current Spanish champion Jackson Quiñonez.

The Cuban athlete has never run in Barcelona, but he has confessed he likes the city a lot and also than in the coming seasons he hopes to have the possibility of participating in any competition that takes place in the Olympic Stadium Lluís Companys of Montjuic.

Right now, he is in Guadalajara with the rest of his crowded team of Cuban athletes, and after his outstanding mark in Ostrava (13.04) he is already hoping to break again the 13 seconds barrier in his next appearance that will be in the Bislett Stadium in Oslo on July 3rd.

Robles is the World record holder with a time of 12.87 and in other seven occasions he has made less than 13 seconds, six of them, last season. In Beijing he won the gold medal with a 12.93 time.
