Roman Sebrle is going for his third consecutive Decathlon title at Barcelona 2010

Czech Roman Sebrle, current European champion as well as World record holder at Decathlon, is preparing in Potchefstroom, South Africa, at the moment – a training camp on high altitude – in order to get in top form for the European Athletics Championships Barcelona 2010, next year´s main objective of the athlete. Sebrle, who just turned 35 years, wants to continue competing until the Olympic Games in London 2012.
Together with some of the best Czech athletes Sebrle is preparing for the upcoming season in Potchefstroom. He is accompanied by his coach Dalibor Kupka, meanwhile high jumper Jaroslav Baba travelled to South Africa with Jan Janku sr. Hurdler Stanislav Sajdok and the young combination specialist Jaroslav Hedvicak are also training with the group of athletes.
Sebrle, who achieved the European title at the last two edition and intends to defend it one more at Barcelona 2010, a goal that has only been achieved yet by Vasily Kuznietsov from the Soviet Union between 1954 and 1962, already announced that he wants to compete at the World Indoor Championships in Doha next March. The Czech athlete might be invited by the International Athletics Federation, as the number of participants is restricted.
In 2009, Sebrle made the 12° position of the World Decathlon ranking with 8348 points, a total he obtained in Gotzis in spring, and finished 11° at World Athletics Championships in Berlin last August. Next year in Barcelona he will be of the athletes having good opportunities to climb the podium.
After competing at the Olympic Games in London 2012, the athlete wants to become at golf trainer, which is his great passion.
