Barni promotes Barcelona 2010 in the Gran Premio Ciudad de Guadix

The 24th Gran Premio de Marcha Atlética Ciudad de Guadix, fifth edition of the Memorial Manuel Alcalde, that has taken place coinciding with the festivities of this city in Granada, has counted this year with an exceptional guest: Barni, the mascot of Barcelona 2010. According with the strategy of the Marketing department of intensifying gradually the promotion of the event outside Catalonia, the European Athletics Championships Barcelona 2010 has taken advantage of the celebration of this classic of the Spanish walking races to get the attention of the Andalusian fans.

The winners of each one of the categories have been given a cuddly toy of Barni, and all of the participants in the event that has taken place in a city circuit, have been given bags of promotional material of Barcelona 2010. Barni has participated in the handing over of trophies next to the Mayor of Guadix, Santiago Pérez López, and also next to a sister of the unforgettable Manuel Alcalde.
 
It has been a very lively day. Barni has met another attractive mascot, Salaito, that is the image of the Iberoamerican Athletics Championships that will take place in San Fernando next year. It has also been able of dancing batuka on the stage, because amongst the invited artists there were the popular Jessica Espósito and her brother José, the promoters of this dance.

Paquillo Fernández the great local idol has been the winner of the male race, beating the Irish Robert Hefferman and the Portuguese Joan Vieira. In the female category, the victory was for the German Sabine Zimmer, who has beaten the Irish Olive Loughnane, world runner-up in Berlin and the Portuguese Vera Santos.
