Road events

As it is usual, the Walking and Marathon events won't be held in the stadium. The exact courses for these Road events have still to be approved. However it has already been decided that the athletes will walk and run through the heart of the city of  Barcelona, at the bottom of the hilly Montjuic mountain.

The Paseo de Colón, a long avenue almost completely flat and very close to the Port of Barcelona, will be the main stage for the Walking course, whose distance will be 2.000m in line with previous European Athletics Championships and with other similar events. The start and finish will probably be in the Parc de la Ciutadella, one of the great green areas in the city.

The Marathon course is not yet finalised, but the wish of the Organising Committee is that it should take the athletes and the crowed in the most symbolic places of the city. With few athletes taking part, at least in relation to the large popular marathons, this Marathon will be over a course of a little less than 15km and will have three laps.
