Public transport

Barcelona is a city with excellent transport links, both locally and internationally. El Prat international airport is located only 12km from the city centre, some 20mins by taxi, or you can take one of the regular trains or buses which connect the airport with the city.

Other airports nearby are the Gerona-Costa Brava airport, located 13km from the city of Gerona and 100km from Barcelona and Reus Airport which is 13km from the city of Tarragona and some 95km to the south of Barcelona.
There are also major motorways that link, in all directions, Barcelona with the rest of Spain and Europe.
Within the city the latest urban changes have transformed it into a city with excellent transport links. The suburbs with the geometric grid system has been complemented by a ring road which allows quick access to the city centre.

The facilities where the 20th European Athletics Championships will held can be found on the Montjuïc mountain. There is easy access to the stadium from the city by car, on public transport or on foot thanks to escalators that make the climb up the mountain easier. The Montjuïc cable car is the most ecological, economic and comfortable access to the mountain. From the heart of the city and in a time of only 2 minutes, you can reach important venues such as the Palau San Jordi, the University of Sport, the Miró Foundation and the Olympic Stadium itself.
